On August 28, 2023, Dr. Klaus Schormann, President of the UIPM handed over the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne flag to the organizing body of the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Championships - the Chinese Modern Pentathlon Association.

The Chinese organizers, considering the requirements and growth trajectory of modern pentathlon, introduced the groundbreaking Pentathlon Sports Arena competition rules for the first-time during the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon and Laser Run World Championships, Zhengzhou. This innovation aims to elevate the excitement of modern pentathlon competitions and enhance the overall enjoyment for spectators.
The Pentathlon Sports Arena implemented in the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon and Laser Run World Championships, Zhengzhou allows all five disciplines to take place within a single venue. With just one ticket and one seat, spectators can relish in the exhilarating performances of the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Championships throughout a compact 90-minute timeframe. The ultimate objective is to provide Zhengzhou audiences with a seamless and immersive experience, enabling them to effortlessly enjoy the full range of athletic events featured in the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon and Laser Run World Championships.
During the event, in addition to the riding, shooting, and laser run competitions held in the same venue as before, a designated fencing arena has been incorporated to host thrilling fencing matches. Furthermore, a swimming pool has been integrated into the competition venue, promoting sustainability and cost-effectiveness while enhancing the visual spectacle for spectators.
