Songshan Mountain and Shaolin Monastery
Shaolin Monastery, located at the foot of Mount Song under the Wuru Peak in Dengfeng County, Henan Province, China, is the birthplace of Shaolin Kung Fu and the ancestral home of Chinese Chan Buddhism. It is renowned as the "ancestral home of Chan Buddhism and the foremost monastery under heaven." Shaolin Monastery is a national 5A-level tourist attraction. UNESCO has listed Shaolin Monastery, along with 11 historical buildings including "Center of Heaven and Earth," as a World Cultural Heritage Site.
The monastery boasts attractions such as the monastery itself, pagoda forests, the cave of Bodhidharma, and the Ancestral Hall of the First Patriarch, embodying the millennia-old Shaolin culture of "Chan, Wu, Yi" (Chan Buddhism, Martial Arts, and Medicine).
