On December 5th, at 5:00 PM Beijing time (10:00 AM Monaco time), the international coordination video conference for the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon and Laser Run World Championships, Zhengzhou took place online at the conference room of Zhengzhou Culture, Tourism, and Sports Group. Esteemed leaders including Sun Weimin, Director and Party Secretary of the Cycling and Fencing Sports Management Center at the General Administration of Sport of China, Ji Daoming, Chairman of the Chinese Modern Pentathlon Association, Zhang Bin, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the association, Chen Hongmin, Deputy Mayor of Zhengzhou Municipal People’s Government, Li Ya, Director of Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Sports, Qin Fei, Party Committee Member and Deputy General Manager of Zhengzhou Culture, Tourism, and Sports Group, and other participants attended the conference. Zhang Bin, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the CMPA, presided over the meeting.
The conference commenced with introductions of the team members, including nine representatives from the UIPM, such as Alex Franca, Head of Coordination, and department heads responsible for various aspects of modern pentathlon and laser run events.
Qin Fei, Party Committee Member and Deputy General Manager of Zhengzhou Culture, Tourism, and Sports Group, presented a comprehensive report on the overall event plan and discussed the upcoming tasks. He provided a concise overview of 11 aspects, covering the competition schedule, venue arrangements, local transportation and accommodation, referee management, anti-doping measures, and market development. Following this, officials from the UIPM and their Chinese counterparts engaged in fruitful discussions and exchanged ideas regarding the fine details of the competition.
Expressing warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude, Li Ya, Director of Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Sports, acknowledged that hosting the UIPM 2024 Pentathlon and Laser Run World Championships signifies recognition and affirmation from the UIPM, the CMPA, and the Henan Provincial Bureau of Sports for the development of sports in Zhengzhou. Concluding the conference, Chen Hongmin, Deputy Mayor of Zhengzhou Municipal Government, outlined key priorities. Additionally, promoting the integration of sports with culture, tourism, and other sectors to foster innovative development was emphasized. Comprehensive services and security measures were highlighted as crucial aspects to ensure a safe and successful event.
